How to Choose an Engagement Ring
Choosing an engagement ring is one of the most meaningful gifts you will ever buy. It has to be something you know your partner will love and enjoy wearing. Does it have to be a huge stone or several stones? Not necessarily, most women are simply pleased to have a ring that means something to them, and it generally is the way they are proposed to that means the most to them over the ring or size of it.
First, do not get yourself into debt just to buy a ring that looks nice. It is simply not worth it, if you are going to marry this person wouldn’t you have the rest of your life to buy another ring for her or to upgrade the one you give her now? Yes, you would have all the time in the world to get another ring so buy one that you can afford. Do not allow a salesperson to convince you to buy one that you cannot afford as you may need to get a second job just to pay for the ring which is just not reasonable. Make a budget for what you can afford and stick to that budget. Many time the couples will decide to buy the ring as a couple together. This can be a great thing or a horrible one, many couples have vastly different views on styles of rings and of course on the prices as well. Some get into huge arguments and leave the jewelry store not even talking to each other, which is the direct opposite feeling they had when they went into the store of love and joy to begin doing things as couple forever. Remember that the ring is not your marriage, it is just a symbol of it.
Most men are completely surprised to find out the cost of engagement rings and they need to do some research before they walk into a store and buy the first thing they see. Stick to the budget and find a shape of diamond you like and go from there. At least you will have some foundation to work with, and then you can decide on the cut and color of the diamond or diamonds you like for the ring. Clarity is important and you will quickly notice that the bigger and more clarity it bodes, the more pricey it is. You will have your choice of gold, silver or platinum and it may be a wise idea to ask which style your partner likes before buying a ring they will not like. You can ask their friends, coworkers or family members before you buy the ring and that may help you greatly. Some men even take one of their girlfriend’s friends along with them to provide some additional female input to help the process, that plus the fact that most women know what their friends may like for types of jewelry to wear. Get a ring that you have a warranty on and always keep the receipt!
