7 Tips For Buying a Laptop
Tip #1- Do not pay for a warranty that does not cover enough or for a laptop that does not come with one. Millions of people purchase a new laptop with such excitement that they forget to protect their investment. You may need to purchase a warranty or protection plan of some sort to go along with your laptop to ensure if something breaks you are covered.
Tip #2- Do not over pay for a processor. Many assume that if you are paying more for something then certainly it must be a quality product, but more often than not this is not the truth. Your processor can run applications at much faster speeds if you buy a quality processor, but not everyone needs that. Some actually perform even better at slower speeds, depending on the application you are running. Look into what programs you are working with most often and get the best processor to suit those needs.
Tip #3- Purchase a laptop that will suit your needs for years. Often consumers purchase a laptop that is great for downloading music or watching movies on while they are in college, but when they graduate they may need one that is more proficient in office applications. Select a laptop that allows for several output jacks to plug in any devices and to charge your mp3 players and even your cell phones.
Tip #4- Get your laptop with enough memory to support all that you need it to hold. Laptops that run Windows Vista and Java for example, tend to take up quite a bit of room in your laptop’s memory. You can increase your memory at a later time if you need to, which you may want to look into at the time of purchase for your laptop. Inquire at the store where you are purchasing it to find out what the cost is for your specific model to increase that memory in the future.
Tip #5- You do not want to have to replace your hard disk some point. It can be a challenging process to complete, if you can avoid it all costs then do so. Buy a hard disk that is larger to ensure you will be able to store all of your media needs. It may be slightly higher in price, but well worth it in the end.
Tip #6- Select a laptop that is going to be able handle what you are going to put it through. Do not purchase a flimsy one just because the price was right at the time as it may not be able to handle the daily travel you put it through. Buy a case to protect it and clean it to ensure it will be running well for quite some time.
Tip #7- Screen size may be very important to you depending on what you will be using your laptop for. If you are just using it for emails and to surf the web, not so much but for those that enjoy watching movies online, then do invest in a larger screen with a clear picture.
